Mrs. Golden has been teaching at Washburn Rural for 17 years! She recently was awarded Kansas Master Teacher for the Auburn-Washburn School District. She has her Master’s Degree from Baker University in Curriculum and Instruction. She teaches Entrepreneurship,  Banking and Investing (WRHS BANK), and both Marketing/Finance Workplace Experience. She is also the sponsor of the National Technical Honor Society.

  Computer Applications

This course provides students with knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Access), with an integration of internet-based applications such as Google Docs.

 Business Communications

Students will gain experience using Adobe Products, Microsoft Office and general office procedures. This course will help students develop an understanding and appreciation for effective communication in business situations and environments. Through a hands-on approach, students will create, produce and publish documents for our school and community.

   Banking & Finance – Investing

Banking and Finance provide students with an overview of the American monetary and banking system as well as types of financial institutions and the services and products they offer. Course content may include government regulations; checking, savings, and money market accounts; loans; and investments. Students will manage the daily operations of the WRHS Bank.

 Entrepreneurship

Learn how to start your own business! This class will teach you how to own, operate, and create a successful business or prepare you for a professional business career. Students will create their own business plan and learn from local business owners what it takes to

  Finance Workplace Experience

This course is for students who are interested in pursuing a career in Finance. Students are placed in careers around the community.  Students develop a career portfolio as they pursue their career and/or their post secondary education.  Goals are typically set cooperatively by the student, teacher and employer for paid or non paying positions.

  Marketing Workplace Experience

This course is for students who are interested in pursuing a career in Marketing. Students are placed in careers around the community.  Students develop a career portfolio as they pursue their career and/or their post secondary education. Goals are typically set cooperatively by the student, teacher and employer for paid or non paying positions.
